For me, not as information laden as Color and Light, his other book, but offered a much more in depth look at Gurney’s process and how he visualizes the non-existent. He reveals a variety of useful techniques in composition vignetting, windmilling, cut-aways, etc.

I had the honor of meeting James Reailsm at Anthrocon in ; he definitely knows what he’s talking about. I have taken those lessons to heart in my professional approach and have shared them with art students across the country. I had seen a few illustrations from Dinotopia by the author imaginatife but really had no idea how truly amazing his work is. I had the honor of meeting him in person at that event!
